The Buena Vista Museum of Natural History is a unique museum housing many one-of-a-kind fossils. These fossils are found right here in the foothills of Bakersfield.
Within the 16,000 sq. ft. of exhibits visitors will view rare Miocene fossils, African, Asian and North American animal mounts, dinosaurs, Native American artifacts, including a life size interpretive Yokuts family dwelling area, gem and minerals and a significant display of petrified woods. In addition, children will enjoy the Oh! Zone, an interactive hands-on discovery center.
