The Official Bakersfield Arrival Guide is already more than 60 pages of fun. Now it is an award-winning publication. The California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) has recognized the Official Bakersfield Arrival Guide with a 2018 Award of Merit.
Each year, CALED’s Awards of Excellence program brings statewide recognition to those projects and programs developed during the previous year that have made significant contributions to the field of economic development. The Official Bakersfield Arrival Guide was recognized in the Economic Development Promotions category.
“While we created it with visitors in mind, the Arrival Guide has quickly become in demand throughout our city,” said Visit Bakersfield Manager David Lyman. “Personnel recruiters want copies when they are trying to bring new hires to Bakersfield. Real estate agents use it to attract new homebuyers here. And new residents who have recently moved to our city find it provides them with valued information to get settled quickly. When people ask for information about our city, the Official Bakersfield Arrival Guide is the publication that Bakersfield turns to.”
The category Economic Development Promotions in CALED’s Awards of Excellence program recognizes outstanding efforts and achievements in economic development advertising, marketing and promotion during 2018. The award was presented at CALED’s annual conference in Anaheim on March 28.
The award-winning Official Bakersfield Arrival Guide is available free at most Bakersfield hotels, RV parks, at the Amtrak station and at Visit Bakersfield, 515 Truxtun Avenue. It also is available in digital book.
