Bold Step: 60th Anniversary of the Delano Grape Strike

The Delano Chapter and its parent organization, the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), will host a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Delano Grape Strike on September 6, in Delano,CA. Dubbed Bold Step, the event will recall the courage and determination by Filipino farmworkers on Sept. 8, 1965, when they walked off the fields to begin the historic Delano Grape Strike. Led by Larry D. Itliong and other Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee (AWOC) members, the strike established a legacy that still resonates within the Filipino American community in Delano and across the nation.

The program will include a Historical Tour of the Delano Grape Trike Tour and Filipino American Experience, panel discussions by strike veterans, scholars, community activists, student voices, and local community leaders.
