Join us in celebrating National Farmers Market Week at Bakersfield's F Street Farmers Market! National Farmers Market Week is a great opportunity to show the nation how much value markets bring to their communities. The week helps to boost market attendance and visibility and connects Kern County residents with the farmers market, local resources, food demonstrations, and physical activity information. In addition, the F Street Farmers Market is the first and only market in Kern County with the Market Match program. Market Match provides matching funds so that a shopper who spends $10 of CalFresh benefits (Food Stamps/EBT) at the farmers’ market receives an additional $10 to spend on fresh produce, for a total of $20 to spend at the market. Market Match empowers low-income shoppers to make healthy food choices by overcoming financial barriers. It supports job creation, local economic development, and civic engagement by leveraging the benefits of farmers’ markets for a broader community.
