Introduction to Comedy Improvisation at the Levan Institute for Lifelong Learning

Overview
In this class, you will learn the basic concepts of longform improvisation to create brief, comedic scenes in the moment. Activities focus on listening to your scene partner(s), creating a character’s point of view, making strong choices, building character relationships and the scene through agreement (commonly referred to as “yes and…”), and pulling comedic premises from a monologue opening. No performance experience is necessary. Come to class with an open mind and ready to play. The course will run for 6 weeks on Thursdays from 6-8 PM (excluding Halloween day) starting Thursday, October 3rd in the new Campus Center building and will conclude with a class show in the 7th week to which participants can invite friends and family. The fee for the entire class is $88, and registration and payment can be completed through the Levan Institute for Lifelong Learning at the link provided.
