31st Annual Bakersfield Jazz Festival

The Bakersfield Jazz Festival returns to the CSU Bakersfield campus on April 28, and 29, 2017 for two nights of music, food, drink, and scholarship awards!

The 31st Annual Jazz Festival, presented by Motor City Lexus of Bakersfield, will start Friday night, April 28 with three-time GRAMMY nominee Donny McCaslin and his quartet. Also appearing on Friday is Ghost-Note, a high-energy ensemble led by percussionists from Snarky Puppy, Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth,

On Saturday night April 29, we are pleased to have co-headliners. Guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel will bring his new group to our stage supporting his new album Caipi and trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah with his Stretch Music Ensemble playing immediately beforehand. Opening the festivities on Saturday is Moonchild, a neo-soul quartet featuring the angelic vocals of Amber Navman, and The Kandinsky Effect, a Paris-based trio.

The 31st Annual Bakersfield Jazz Festival will feature 10 bands over two days and will help raise over $20,000 in scholarship money for CSUB students, and bring the best of jazz to the CSUB campus!
