Individuals can now nominate themselves or others to be a Breakaway from Cancer® Champion. Amgen's Breakaway from Cancer initiative aims to raise awareness of important resources available ranging across cancer prevention, education, patient care, advocacy and financial support.
Four individuals from the 2010 Amgen Tour of California communities of Santa Cruz, Modesto, Bakersfield and the Conejo Valley (Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills) who have made a positive impact and acted as an inspiration to those affected by cancer within their community will be selected as the Breakaway from Cancer Champions.
Breakaway from Cancer Champions will be granted special access to the 2010 Amgen Tour of California, be recognized on stage and lead the Breakaway Mile through their community. Sponsored by Amgen, the Breakaway Mile takes place at the finish line of the Amgen Tour of California to honor the millions of caner survivors worldwide. Accepting nominations: March 8 - April 10, 2010
