Amgen Now Accepting Nominations for Breakaway from Cancer Champions 

Individuals can now nominate themselves or others to be a Breakaway from Cancer® Champion. Amgen's Breakaway from Cancer initiative aims to raise awareness of important resources available ranging across cancer prevention, education, patient care, advocacy and financial support.

Four individuals from the 2010 Amgen Tour of California communities of Santa Cruz, Modesto, Bakersfield and the Conejo Valley (Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills) who have made a positive impact and acted as an inspiration to those affected by cancer within their community will be selected as the Breakaway from Cancer Champions.


Breakaway from Cancer Champions will be granted special access to the 2010 Amgen Tour of California, be recognized on stage and lead the Breakaway Mile through their community. Sponsored by Amgen, the Breakaway Mile takes place at the finish line of the Amgen Tour of California to honor the millions of caner survivors worldwide. 2010 Amgen Tour of California Merchandise Hits Bakersfield Retailers

The Bakersfield Sports Foundation today announced official 2010 Amgen Tour of California merchandise is now available exclusively at select local retail outlets. Designated retail locations include: Action Sports, Snider's Cyclery, Finish Line, Snead's Apparel, H.Walker's Clothing Co. and the Kern County Board of Trade. Read the Full News Release.

Stage Five Route Announced for 2010 Amgen Tour of California
Highlights include King of the Mountain Sprints, Circuit Finish in Bakersfield

The Bakersfield Sports Foundation, in conjunction with AEG Sports, today unveiled the race route for stage five of the 2010 Amgen Tour of California, scheduled for May 20. The 120-mile trek includes two King of the Mountain sprints through the Kern County foothills and a circuit finish taking riders up the Panorama Bluffs three times.

Coverage of the finish on Panorama Drive just west of Mount Vernon Avenue will be featured live on the Versus TV network beginning at 2 p.m. Read the Full News Release.
